Course Overview
Live Sound Course teaches you the practical skills to work as a sound engineer in live music venues. The students will learn: how to mix bands, get to grips with mixing consoles, microphones, monitors, DI boxes. Set up and Install Sound Systems, eliminate and handle feedbacks, monitor mixing skills.

- Basics of Sound
- Setup – rigging up
- Role of the Venue Acoustics
- Live sound consoles (analog and digital)
- Feedback control
- Microphones and effect processors
- Gain staging /unity gain
- Basic electronics and amplification
- Analyzing – Alignment of the system
- Live mixing techniques
By the end of the program, student should be able to:
- Operate the live sound console (analogue/digital) during shows
- Position and rigging up the system
- Operate the sound desk during shows
- Choose suitable microphones and equipment
- Basic levelling during the performance
- Follow sound plan and cues from the artists.
- Judge the role of acoustics based on venue during the live sound
Assessment
As this is a highly technical program, students will be expected to attend multiple theory and practical sessions. At the end of the term, they will have to submit their project. On successful completion of their project they would be presented with a certificate.
